Nourishing Reads GIVEAWAY!
I have finally set up an Amazon Affiliate account and created the brand new Nourishing Reads page! Just so you know, if you click through the Nourishing Reads links to my recommended books and purchase one, I will receive a (very small) percentage of the cost of the book. This is not likely to make me a millionaire (or even hundredaire…), but will hopefully support NTS is some teensy way.
In honor of this, I’ve decided to do my very first giveaway! I get all fluttery just thinking about it!
The winner of the giveaway will receive a book of your choice from the Nourishing Reads page. I will be covering the cost of the book and shipping myself, so this contest will be open only to U.S. residents.

You have two opportunities to enter (and you can do both)! Here’s how:
1.) Leave a comment that includes the title of a book that nourishes your soul. Don’t think long and hard about this – just let us know a good book you’ve read that you think might be of interest to others. You can repeat a book that someone else has mentioned if you loooooove the book, but let’s try to be creative get an awesome list going! (= one entry)
2.) Tweet this post with something like “Check out the Nourishing Reads GIVEAWAY on @nourishthesoul! – (but again, feel free to be creative here and use your own wording) and make sure to include a link. Then leave a separate comment below telling me that you did so. (= one entry)
You have until Tuesday, November 16th at 6:00 p.m. EST to submit your entry. The winner, selected at random, will be announced on Wednesday, November 17th.
Good luck!

I’m not really entering the contest, but I just read about Portia de Rossi’s book, UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS, and I wonder if that would be an interesting one for you to check out, Ashley, and/or earmark for a future giveaway. (Note: I read *about* it, not I read it, so I’m not necessarily vouching for it. It just seemed topical, and it’s getting good reviews.)

Ooh I’d love to win this one! I’m such a book addict and it gets pricey:) I just finished re-reading the Little House on the Prairie series with my kids (my boys LOVED it, btw) and I was amazed at how much I still love them. If you want an adult book, I just finished “Farm City” about urban farming. Such a fun read and good for the soul!

Eat Pray Love and Women Food & God rank waaaaay up there in terms of nourishment for me. On a different note, John Irving’s books are big, delicious and satisfying…I wish they’d never end!

I am one to read books that entertain rather than to nourish my soul, and I read A LOT!!! So I had to think really hard about this to think through the hundreds of books I’ve read to think of the one that has nourished my soul and I came up with “A Tale of Two Cities.” An excellent story of redemption! Love it!
I already bought the Body Image Workbook off your website and hope to get it soon, but I’d LOVE to win this giveaway and try out another book!

The Shack by William P Young. This is one that nourishes the religious soul and opens up great conversation! For the first time… I don’t know if it was ever, but it could have been… my sisters, mom, and I had a really open discussion about faith. It’s one of those books that you either really enjoy or really dislike… find out for yourself :)

the Bible will always be my most nourishing read… but recently another one I have loved is Chocolat by Joanne Harris.. so lovely. Also, Geneen Roth books! they are painfully funny, which is surprising seeing as how they deal with such serious subject matter!

1 of the many things I’ll never forget about my time in residential: Any time we went on an outing to a bookstore, the staff suggested we look into books on topics other than our illness/ recovery struggle. So, in honor of that fabulous advice (to develop other interests and sites of self, while working on the on-topic issues) — here’s my favorite quote from a (somewhat off-topic) nourishing read: “Your anger and damage and grief are the way to the truth. We don’t have much truth to express unless we have gone into those rooms and closets and woods and abysses that we were told not go in to. When we have gone in and looked around for a long while, just breathing and finally taking it in – then we will be able to speak in our own voice and to stay in the present moment. And that moment is home.” -Anne Lamott, _Bird By Bird_

The World According to Garp by John Irving – one of my favorites that I always find myself going back to and rereading. One of my favorite quotes from the book: “If you are careful,’ Garp wrote, ‘if you use good ingredients, and you don’t take any shortcuts, then you can usually cook something very good. Sometimes it is the only worthwhile product you can salvage from a day; what you make to eat. With writing, I find, you can have all the right ingredients, give plenty of time and care, and still get nothing. Also true of love. Cooking, therefore, can keep a person who tries hard sane.”

The books that nourish my sould are all of Jodi Picoult’s books. They are all examples of how mothers will do anything for their children. Being a mother myself..I can relate. I love all of her books!!!
