Just a quick interruption in your hurricane repairs or candy hangover to let you know that November is the month for writing. You might be sick of hearing me talk about how powerful the written word is for healing, self-discovery, and building a stronger self, but I’m going to keep on reminding you…
November is the perfect time to start writing, keep writing, or develop new ways of incorporating writing into your life. To get you started, there are two month-long kicks in the butt going on that I wanted to share.
NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, helps aspiring novelists get started in penning the book that’s always been inside of you. Whether it’s fiction, memoir, or a series of stick figures with funny captions, I believe everyone has something to say. On the website, you can track your progress, get inspiration, and connect with like minds.
If you have a blog, you might want to give NaBloPoMo – National Blog Posting Month – a whirl. The project encourages you to write a post daily and even offers fun prizes for doing so.
If you’re having trouble getting started, take a moment to check out the recent Start Write Now prompts
And if you feel really inspired by all that writing and want to share a personal story with the world (i.e. the world of NTS readers…), submit a post for the If You Really Knew Me series. I’ve LOVED the submissions so far, and would be honored to feature yours here.
